Maass, Ella (Seel) 1895-1960

Mrs. Ella Maass, 64, a lifelong resident of the Remsen community, died April 23 [1960] at Sacred Heart hospital at Le Mars.

Mrs. Maass was born September 16, 1895. She was married to John Maass on August 14, 1919 at Remsen. They farmed south of town until 1945 when they moved into Remsen. Mr. Maass died in 1953.

She was a member of the auxiliaries of the V.F.W. and the American Legion posts at Remsen, and of the ladies aid of Christ Lutheran Church.

Surviving are three sons, Floyd, Arnold and Kenneth, all of Remsen, three daughters, Mrs. August Nitzschke of Remsen, Mrs. Joseph Ritchie of Kingsley, and Mrs. Patrick Pepperd of Flagstaff, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, three sisters, and three brothers.

The body was taken to the Moeller Funeral Home at Remsen.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Christ Lutheran church with burial in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home at Remsen. Rev. Alfred Christiansen will officiate at last rites.
