LE MARS, Iowa -- Christina M. Carstensen, 85, of Le Mars died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present after 5 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Christina Marie Husman was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Spink, S.D., to Fredrick K. and Margretha (Ressen) Husman. She was baptized in Alcester, S.D. on June 6, 1918, and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill on April 3, 1938. She attended school in Plymouth County, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Carstensen on Feb. 4, 1937, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill. The couple farmed north of Merrill for many years, retiring in 1976 and moving to Le Mars.

She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill prior to joining St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting and socializing with her many friends.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Carol and Lloyd Wageman of Pender, Neb.; a granddaughter, Pamela Wageman of Oren, Utah; three grandsons and their wives, Douglas and Lourie Wageman of Lincoln, Neb., Steven and Evonne Wageman of Grand Island, Neb., and Mark and Rose Marie Wageman of Cary, Ill.; six great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; a great-great-stepgranddaughter; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Frank Madden of Le Mars; a brother and his wife, Alfred and Florence Husman of Hawarden, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Husman of Le Mars and Claire Husman of Cherokee, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence on Sept. 22, 1990; two sisters, Katherine "Tena" Husman and Julia Baack; and four brothers, Fred, Henry, John and Albert Husman.

Pallbearers will be Doug, Steve and Mark Wageman, Lloyd Carstensen and John and Richard Husman.
