IRENE BOHLKEN
Irene Bohlken, 81, of Hudson, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1993, at Pikes Peak Hospice, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Services were 11 a.m. today at Hudson Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lyle Inglebret and the Rev. Jerry Albert officiating. Burial was in Wildwood Cemetery, Salem, S.D.
Mrs. Bohlken was born Oct. 22, 1911, near Akron, the daughter of John and Martha (Rickert) Rohlfs. She graduated from high school at Hudson and attended Sioux City’s Morningside College. She taught school, then married Ben Bohlken Dec. 5, 1940, at St. John Lutheran Church in Craig. They farmed in Iowa until 1945, then farmed near Salem. In 1950, they started a well drilling business. Mr. Bohlken died Oct. 5, 1987. In July of 1992, she moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to her daughter.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Ray Windrix of Colorado Springs; four sister, Mrs. Olden (Bernice) Warner of Hudson, S.D., Mrs. Howard (Rocille) Benson of Hawarden, Esther Swenson of Sun Prairie, Wis., and Unithe Talsma of Chandler, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence, and an infant brother.
