Reva P. Brodie, 92, of Le Mars, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at the Hillcrest Healthcare Services in Hawarden.

Reva Phyllis Brodie was born Oct. 3, 1911, in Bloomfield, Neb., the daughter of Chester and Mary (Grable) Scheetz. She received her education in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School in 1928.

On June 8, 1930, Reva and William Wallace "Bill" Brodie were united in marriage in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Le Mars where Reva taught piano lessons for many years. Bill died Aug. 14, 1976. Reva remained in Le Mars until moving to Hillcrest Healthcare Services in Hawarden on Feb. 13, 1997.

Reva had been an active member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. She taught Sunday School and played piano.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Tom Brodie and his wife, Marie of Butte, Mont., a daughter, Mary Aarons and her husband, Joel, of Chicago, Ill., a son, Steve Brodie of Le Mars, and a daughter, Margaret Kroepel and her husband, Russell of Ireton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother George Guillaume and his wife Alice of Clairton, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and a son, John William "Jack" Brodie, member of the United States Marine Corps, was killed in combat during the Korean War in 1951.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. Rev. Robert Grupp will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and continue until the funeral service.
