REMSEN, Iowa -- Glenn P. Miller, 83, of Remsen died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with Monsignor Richard Zenk, the Revs. Thomas J. Hart, John McGuirk and James Tigges, and Deacon Allan Weiler officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mr. Miller was born Aug. 16, 1918, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars, the son of Anton and Anna (Scharff) Miller. Glenn was raised in the Remsen area and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen. He then worked at the Farmers Elevator and the Boever Hog Barn in Remsen.
On Oct. 9, 1951, he married Lorraine Freking at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. They made their home near Remsen, where they farmed until retiring on the farm in 1993. They moved into Remsen in 1996.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Remsen; two sons and their wives, Richard "Dick" and Sue, and Larry and Donna, all of Remsen; a daughter and her husband, Jean and Patrick Zenk of Alton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Lewine Loesche and Fern and her husband, Ervin Staab, all of Remsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son in infancy, Joseph Robert; a brother in infancy, Richard Miller; and a brother-in-law, Urban Loesche.
Pallbearers will be Jeff and Jackie Arens, Reggie, Tim, Chris and Andy Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Bohnenkamp, Oscar Block, Donell Engelbrecht, Paul Lang, Tom Ortmann and Silverius Schroeder.
Knights of Columbus pallbearers will be Roger Galles, Hubert Nothem, Paul Pick, Melvin Ruba, Dr. Tim Russell and Donald Zenk.
