Laura Pearl Anderson, 93, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Hallmark Care Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janice Bennett, pastor of Riverside United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anderson was born July 25, 1908, in Durham, Mo., the daughter of Carl of Willie (Hadfield) Kelly. She was the first of 10 children. She married Reuben Anderson on Jan. 8, 1930, in Clay County, S.D. Her family came by covered wagon to Clay County when she was 10 years old. They engaged in farming and farmed until 1962, when she came to Sioux City.

She sold Avon for many years. In 1997 she moved to Pheasant Acres Apartments, and 14 months ago she moved to Hallmark Care Center. She was legally blind for several years.

She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and Faith Circle.

She was a avid artist and painter, winning several awards at Senior Art shows. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Carolyn Leach and her husband, Jack of Albert Lea, Minn., and Patricia Faye Jacobs of Sioux City; two sisters, Delores Chamnes of Quincy, Ill., and Dorothy Johnston of Hannibal, Mo.; six grandchildren, Michael and Greg Stribley, Natalie S. Hubbell, Eric Meyer and Kelly and Shane Jacobs; six great-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela; six brothers, Cecil, Earl, Calvin, James, Howard and Charles; and an infant sister.

Pallbearers will be Shane, Kelly and Joshua Jacobs, Greg Stribley, Eric Meyer and Natalie Hubbell.
