SHIRLEY MANSFIELD

WESTFIELD, Iowa -- Shirley Mansfield, 90, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Westfield, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Spencer Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Westfield Congregational United Church of Christ in Westfield, with Rev. Steve Jewett officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Mansfield was born Aug. 21, 1911, in Westfield, the daughter of Stanley P. and Mabel A. (Harrington) Lilly. She received her teaching certificate from Morningside College and taught in rural Iowa and South Dakota schools before teaching in Westfield. She married James Mansfield on Dec. 15, 1938, in Merrill, Iowa. Mr. Mansfield preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1992.

Mrs. Mansfield was a member of Westfield Congregational Church and Westfield Women's Aid. In her free time she loved to watch sports, most of all, baseball and basketball, working in her flower garden, camping and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Crosby and her husband, John of Lake Park, Iowa, and Kay Rosacker and her husband, Jim of Webb, Iowa; a sister, Audrey Crouch of Spencer; a sister-in-law, Nella Lilly of Westfield; six grandchildren, Melissa Bauman and her husband, Chad, Martin Rosacker and his wife, Diane, Matthew Rosacker and his wife, Erin, Michael Rosacker and his fiancee, Kaycee, Trisha Ingham and her husband, Kirk, and John Rosacker III and his wife, Trinity; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tara, Kyle, Clay and Charley; two great-stepgrandchildren, Dusty and Robby; along with several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wallace Lilly; and a sister, Evelyn Banks.
