INEZ E. MYERS

Inez E. Myers, 86, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. Timothy Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Myers was born May 25, 1917, in Oyens, Iowa, the daughter of John and Loretta (Laddusaw) Sheehan. She grew up in Oyens, and after high school, graduated from Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, with her teaching degree. She received her master's degree in education from the University of South Dakota.

She married Elvin J. Myers on Jan. 19, 1952, in Sioux City. She began her teaching career in a country school, teaching all of her brothers and sisters. Later, she began teaching first grade in the Sergeant Bluff School District and taught there most of her life until retiring in 1978.

Mr. Myers died Oct. 15, 2000, in Sioux City.

She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America, the Prayer Line as well as many other church circles. She taught first grade prep classes at St. Michael's from 1983 to 1993. She also enjoyed her bridge games she played with the ladies from the church. She loved being with her family and friends. She truly will be missed and remembered for her strong faith, strength and deep commitment and love she had for her family and friends.

Grateful to have shared her life are her son and his wife, William "Bill" and Gina Myers of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Tammarra "Tammy" and Alan Reed of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Vernon Yates of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Jessica Myers, Dylan Myers, Jennifer Jones and her husband, Chris and Daniel "D.J." Ransom; a great-grandson, Trent Jones; a sister-in-law, Virginia McClain of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Thomas "Tommy" Jesse and Lisa Ann Myers; her parents; a sister, Lenice Reilly; and six brothers, Estil, Leo, Wayne, Gene, John and Jim.

Pallbearers will be Chad Sheehan, Marty Reilly, Kenny McWilliams, Vernon John Yates, Eric Obermeyer and Kyle Obermeyer.
