KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Frances M. Haley, 100, of Kingsley died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Thomas J. Topf officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scripture service at 6 p.m., at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Frances was born Dec. 2, 1901, in Union Township, rural Kingsley, the daughter of Thomas and Cecela (McDermott) Julian. She was educated in local country schools as well as graduating from Kingsley Public School. She received a junior college degree from Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1921 and completed her bachelors degree at Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa.

Frances married Ernest Haley on Aug. 21, 1940, in Kingsley. After their marriage, Frances lived and farmed in the Kingsley and Moville, Iowa area before moving to Kingsley in 1971. Ernest died June 24, 1979. For a total of 42 years, Frances taught in elementary schools in Buffalo Center, Kingsley Public and St. Michael's Catholic Schools. Frances had been a resident of Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center since July 1995.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Michael's Guild and Missionary Society.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Marie Haley of Sioux City, Pauline LaCroix of Omaha, Paul Haley of Canton, Ohio, Lorraine Drey of Early, Iowa, and Clare King of Bellevue, Wash.; a cousin, Anne O'Leary of Atlanta, Ga.; and a special friend, Catherine Hamman of Kingsley.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marie Marcoux.
