Mrs. H. Maxwell

Mrs. Isabel Barbara Ann Maxwell, longtime Plymouth County resident, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital on Saturday, December 5, after a sickness of two weeks, following a fall down the basement steps of her home here. She was 84 years, 2 months, and 12 days of age.

Isabel Watson was born Sept. 23, 1868, in Three Rivers, Quebec, Canada. She came to the United States at the age of 5, and the family settled in Plymouth county, Union township. In 1913 they retired to LeMars where she has since lived.

Isabel Watson was married to Hugh A. Maxwell, former Plymouth county sheriff on March 10, 1896. He preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1953, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mauer funeral home in LeMars with burial in the LeMars City cemetery. Rev. James Ransom will officiate. Deceased was a member of the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian church here.

Survivors include thee daughters, Mrs. George (Fern) Blare of LeMars; Mrs. Ivan (Anna) Hart of Sioux City; Miss Clara Maxwell of LeMars; two sisters, Mrs. Janet Lewis of Omaha and Mrs. Beatrice Schumann of San Diegeo, Calif.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
