Merrill, Iowa—Mrs. Louis Labahn, 90, of Merrill, died Wednesday [19 Dec 1979] in a care center at LeMars.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Merrill United Methodist Church. The Rev. G. Milton Kinney will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Adaville. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today in the Mauer Funeral Home at LeMars.

Mrs. Labahn, the former Bessie King, was born May 24, 1889, on a farm in Plymouth Country, rural Merrill. She lived in the Merrill community when a child. She graduated from LeMars High School and attended Westmar College. She taught school near Remsen.

She was married Feb. 16, 1910, in Plymouth County. They moved to Burke, S.D., where they farmed until 1937 when they moved to a farm at Merrill. Mr. Labahn died in 1938. She retired to town in 1945 and had been a resident of the care center the last two years.

She was a member of the Merrill United Methodist Church and the Merrill American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Eunice) Buryanek of Burke; Mrs. Oscar (Gladys) Carlson of Rapid City, S.D.; Mrs. Don (Betty) Bauerly of Sergeant Bluff; and Mrs. Clarence (Mary Jane) Schindel of Hinton; two sons, Virgil of Burke and Ronald of Tucson, Ariz.; 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Verne, of LeMars.
