Pearl Phillips
Pearl Phillips, 87, Whitefish, Mont., a former longtime LeMars and Akron area resident, died Monday (June 10, 1991) at North Valley extended care center in Whitefish after a brief illness.
Arrangements are under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary United Methodist Church in LeMars. There will be no visitation.
She was born March 24, 1904, in Holland, Mich., to Janet and John Van Oss. She graduated from high school in that city. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City to obtain her teacher’s certification and taught at a country school near Akron. She married Chester Phillips and together they farmed until their retirement in LeMars.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Bonnie) Kenny of Whitefish; two granddaughters, Mrs. Green (Judy) Togiai, Kennewick, Wash. And Mrs. Dennis (Kathy) Rea, Whitefish; a grandson, Jim Kenny of Akron and six great-grandsons, Mike, Matt and Mark Kenny, John and Justin Toga, and Taylor Rea.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, and a daughter, Dorothy.
