Artha H. Bomgaars, 96 of Le Mars, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at Park Place Estates in Le Mars.
Artha was born Jan. 1, 1910, at Alton, the daughter of Gradus and Christina (Mouw) Korver. She attended school at the Academy and Northwestern in Orange City. She married Arie J. Bomgaars Dec. 23, 1935 in Orange City, Iowa. She received her B A. degree from Westmar College in Le Mars, graduating magna cum laude in 1968. She taught school in Sioux and Plymouth counties for 29 years, the last 15 years spent teaching second grade at Franklin Elementary School in Le Mars.

She was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars, where she was very active as a ruling elder, deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher and in women's groups. She also was a member of Mother's Club for many years and supported and entertained many community groups with her husband, Arie, in their home, Artha was soprano soloist for many church and community events.

Artha traveled widely, nationally and internationally including an around the world trip in 1970, three trips to Katmandu, Nepal, and many visits to Hawaii. She enjoyed sharing crocheted gifts with family and friends, reading and keeping track of her family on their travels.

Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Mona R. Bomgaars of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son, Robert Bomgaars and his wife, Cathy of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Shannon Sarina, Dr. Stacey Bomgaars-Trueworthy and Cory Bomgaars; five great-grandchildren, Jack Sarina, Ella Sarina, Will Sarina, Ava Trueworthy and Oscar Arie Bomgaars; and one brother, James Korver and his wife, Marian of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arie J. Bomgaars who died Aug. 11, 1990; four brothers, William, Henry, John and Marion Korver, and three sisters, Min Muilenburg, Martina Muilenburg and a sister who died during infancy.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitation begins after 2 p.m. today (Thursday) with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
