Evelyn Hoyting

Evelyn M. Hoyting, 72, LeMars, longtime school teacher and Sunday school teacher, died Sunday (Nov. 25, 1979) at Floyd Valley hospital in LeMars after a long illness. She entered the hospital Oct. 25.

Miss Hoyting was born Aug. 31, 1907, at Bozeman, Mont., to Albert and Anne Peck Hoyting. She came to LeMars as a child and attended LeMars grade schools, Central high school, and Westmar College.

She was a public school teacher for 33 ½ years and taught Sunday school at St. John’s American Lutheran church for 25 years, where she was a member.

Miss Hoyting was a lifetime member of Iowa State Teacher’s Association.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s American Lutheran church with Rev. Tom Lee and Rev. William Streipe officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial cemetery under the direction of Mauer Funeral Home.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sue is survived by a sister, Ardie Hoyting, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin sister, Adeline, who died in 1947.
