Donald F. Eyres Death Sunday
Tetanus Follows Loss of FingerDonald Francis Eyres, Union township farmer, died Sunday at Sacred Heart hospital following a brief illness from tetanus. About two weeks ago he had a finger cut off while moving a stove, but the wound was dressed at once and he was about his work as usual. Thursday night the hand began to pain and anti-tetanus shots failed to bring permanent relief and he died Sunday afternoon.
Donald Eyres, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Eyres, was born August 12, 1898, on the farm where he has lived ever since and which he has operated in recent years. He married Mildred Hahn, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Hahn of LeMars, who with three children, Caroline, Leland and Sharon, aged 8, 6 and 2 years, survive to mourn his death. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Eyres of Union, two brothers, Stanley, of Syracuse, New York, and Richard, of Sioux City and one sister, Mrs. Robert Young of Union.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon, February 11, at 2:30 o'clock at Hildreth Memorial church of which he was a member, the pastor, Rev. Golden Thompson, being assisted by Rev. Glen Morrow of the Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Union cemetery.
