WIDELY KNOWN STOCKMAN AND FARMER DIES
Herman May Expires In Automobile On Road to LeMars
On Way To See Doctor
Settled in Union Township in Early EightiesHerman May, 82, wealthy farmer and stockman, of Union township, was stricken by death yesterday, shortly after noon as he was driving from his home to LeMars in company with his son, Henry May. Mr. May had been feeling poorly for a few days, and was coming to LeMars to consult a physician. Nearing the Majeres place at the southeast part of town, Mr. May threw up his arm, gave a gasp and slumped over.
By the time a physician arrived, summoned by the son, Mr. May was dead. The body was brought to the Mauer funeral parlors.
Mr. May was a successful farmer and extensive land owner. He came to Plymouth county in the early eighties, from Woodford county, Ill., and bought prairie land in Union township which he developed into fine farms.
He is survived by his wife and six sons, Fred, Gus, Henry, and Frank May who operate farms on their own account and Louis and George, who live on the home place.
The funeral will probably be held Thursday but arrangements had not been finally arranged last evening.
