Note: His mother's maiden name was Tripp. His first name was William but he went by his middle name Ernest.

DEATH SUMMONS ERNEST HENKE

Rites Held march 16 For a Former Akron Resident

Brief mention was made in this paper last week of the death of a former resident, Ernest Henke Sr., at his home in Elk Point, S. D. after a brief illness, on March 13, aged 73 years.

Mr. Henke was born March 10, 1888, in Sioux Valley township, Union county, S. D. ON September 30, 1912, he married Jessie Tomoson at Elk Point and they farmed until 1928 then moving to Akron. Here he was employed for 26 years by the Moir Implement CO., moving to Elk Point in 1953.

Survivors include three sons, Ernest Jr., of Aurelia, Ia., George of Sioux City and Walter of Elk Point, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Anderson funeral home in Elk Point, Rev. W. Kallestad, of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, officiating. Burial was in Akron Riverside cemetery.
