Note: His mother's maiden name was Thomas. His first wife's maiden name was Jordin and they eventually divorced.
JESSE PENDLETON CALLED BY DEATH
Rites Held Wednesday For Long-Time Resident Of This Vicinity
Jesse J. Pendleton, a resident of Akron vicinity most of his life, passed away at his home here Saturday, April 21, 1956, after a several weeks’ illness aged nearly 74 years.
Mr. Pendleton was born May 23, 1881, at Elk’s Grove, Wisconsin, and at an early age came here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pendleton. He farmed near Akron for many years, was well known and had many friends here.
Survivors include the widow, Alice; a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Elliott of Sioux City; a step-son, Richard Prothers, of Oceanside, Calif.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, William of Brunsville, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Ogden, of Akron, and Hattie Smith, of Sioux City.
Funeral services were held yesterday at 2:00 p.m. in Wesley Methodist church, conducted by Rev. C. L. Guinn. Mrs. Mary Lundbery sang “In the Garden” and “Face to Face,” accompanied by Mrs. Harry Nelson.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Gale, Richard Frerichs, Harold Jammerthal, Charles Caskey, Sr., Albert Elliott and Elmer Utesch. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
