ELK POINT, SD - Stella V. Monk, 83, of Elk Point died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, in Elk Point following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point with Rev. John Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Akron, Iowa. Visitation will begin at noon today at Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point. Visitation will resume at 3 p.m. today, with rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.
Mrs. Monk was born July 25, 1916, in Elk Point, the daughter of John and Addie (Chaussee) Ryan.
She married Raymond Fletcher on Oct. 29, 1934. The couple made their home in Elk Point. He died in July 1971.
She was employed with the University of South Dakota in the food service department for more than 15 years until retiring.
She married Errol Monk on July 7, 1979, in Elk Point. He died in December 1997.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Veteran's of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Richard and Margaret Fletcher of Des Plaines, Ill.; a daughter and her husband, Yvonne and Bill Busker of Elk Point; a daughter-in-law Paulette Fletcher of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a son.
