Well Known Le Mars Resident Passed Away Monday

William Edwards passed away on Monday, October 7th, at the Sacred Heart Hospital where he was taken last Friday. Mr. Edwards, a salesman, died at the age of 67 years and 26 days.

William John Edwards was born September 11th, 1879, at Oskaloosa, Iowa. In his early life he was a railroad telegrapher having been General Treasurer and Secretary, also organizer of the Order of R. R. Telegraphers. He was a resident of Le Mars 28 years and was a salesman during that time, having been employed by the Perkins Brothers Stationery Company in Sioux City for a long period of time. He was married to Mina Majers (actually Magers) on June 28th, 1905 at Dana, Iowa. They have one son, Drexel of Los Angeles, California.

Funeral services will be held at Mauer’s Chapel at 2:30 on Friday, Mauers’s Chapel at 2:30 on Friday, October 11th. Rev. J. J. Share will officiate at the services and interment will be in the Le Mars City Cemetery.

Wm. J. Edwards Of Le Mars Dead

Had Been In Poor Health for Years

William J. Edwards, resident of LeMars for the past 28 years, died at Sacred Heart hospital on Monday evening, October 7, after a three months illness. Mr. Edwards travelled for Perkins Bros. company in Sioux City.

Deceased was born near Oskaloosa, Iowa, on September 11, 1879, and was 67 years and 26 days of age at the time of his death. On June 28, 1905 (or 1906) he was united in marriage with Miss Moma (actually Mina) Magers, who with a son, Drexel, of Los Angeles, California, survives. He also leaves one granddaughter, five brothers, Thomas, Mathew, Oliver of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Dan of Des Moines and Louis of Sumas, Washington, and three sisters, Mrs. Ray Price of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. H. P. Jacobson of Venice, California, and Mrs. Lucy Nickols of Los Angeles, California.

His son will arrive in Le Mars on Thursday to attend the funeral services which will be held at the Mauer Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, October 11, at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. J. J. Share will officiate and burial will be in the city cemetery.
