AKRON, Iowa—Rudy J. Hartmann, 83, of Akron, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery,, Akron, with military graveside rietes conducted by Hoschler Post 186, American Legion of Akron. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today, with the family present 7-8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mr. Hartmann was born Jan. 22, 1908, in Tea. S.D., the son of Bruno and Margaret (Theilen) Hartmann. He attended Tea schools. He married Hertha Engelbrecht April 25, 1939, in Elk Point, S.D. He was a mechanic in Canton, S.D., from 1942 to 1959. He then owned and operated the Akron Auto Clinc from 1959 to 1971.
Mr. Hartmann served in the Army from 1944 to 1946. He served as Legion commander in Canton from 1949 to 1947. He was a member of Hoschler Post 186, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim, and his wife, Gladys, of Viborg, S.D.; a daughter, Judy, and her husband, Arne Hunstad, of Red Wing, Minn.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gary, Ben, and Ed, all of Akron, and Ray of Boulder, Colo.; and two sisters, Anne Willer and Mickey Jespersen, both of Akron.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Tillie Hartmann and Alice Eichacker; and a brother, Karl.
