Herman F. Ladwig Taken By Death
Well Known Resident Of Craig Many Years
H. F. Ladwig, 59, well-known oil operator at Craig, died Sunday evening, June 11, in the community hospital at Hawarden after an illness of some weeks. He had been in failing health since last October.
Herman F. Ladwig was born July 22, 1885, in Germany and came when an infant with his parents to the United States. The family came to Plymouth county in 1902, where he lived the most of his life. He was engaged in store keeping in Craig at one time and the past few years was in charge of an oil station. His wife preceded him in death on March 1, 1939.
He is survived by a son, Sgt. Elwood Ladwig, at Camp Chaffee. Arkansas, and a daughter, Annaleen Ladwig, living at home; his aged mother, Mrs. William Ladwig or Craig, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie E. Englebrecht and Mrs. Agnes Ludwigs, both of Craig, and a brother. Frank Ladwig, of Richmond, Ind.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in St. John's Lutheran church in Craig, with Rev. F. H. Voelker officiating, and interment made in the Craig cemetery. The arrangements are in charge of the Mauer funeral home of Le Mars.
