CHRIS LADWIG PASSES AWAY

Was Well Known Resident of Struble For Many Years

NATIVE OF GERMANY

Enjoys Long and Active Life Until Last Illness

Death claimed Christian Ladwig, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Eggebrecht, of Craig, Sunday, following an Illness of two weeks at the age of 82 years. His death was due to old age, his health had gradually failed the past two months.

Mr. Ladwig was born in Lindenberg, Germany, February 15, 1847, and grew to manhood there. He was married in his native land to Johanna Willart, fifty-one years ago. After their marriage they engaged in farming and forty-four years ago came to America. They located near Detroit, Mich, where they lived for about seventeen years and then came to Plymouth county and located in Struble where they lived twenty-seven years. Mr. and Mrs. Ladwig recently moved to Craig to make their home with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Eggebrecht.

Active To the Last

Mr. Ladwig was hardworking and industrious and continued at some active pursuit until the brief Illness, which ended his life, overtook him. He was a fine citizen and good neighbor and was esteemed, among a large acquaintance.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ladwig, five of whom with the mother are living: They are Mrs. Herman Eggebrecht, of Craig; Frank Ladwig, of Richmond, Ind.; Herman Ladwig, of Craig; Mrs. Henry Schumacher, of Vilas, S. D., and Mrs. Arnold Ludwig, of Craig. There are fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held this Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in St. John's Lutheran church in Craig. Rev. Wm. Zibell, the pastor, officiating, and the interment will be made in the cemetery at that place.
