Mrs. Clarence Grau
Mrs. Clarence (Matilda) Voss Grau who had resided at 134 4th Avenue Southwest in Le Mars passed away January 11, 1961 at Sacred Heart Hospital where she had been a patient for the past year, 4 months and 26 days. She suffered a stroke before being hospitalized.
Matilda Voss was born July 1, 1887 on a farm southeast of Le Mars. She had been employed by the late Dr. Fettes in Le Mars prior to her marriage on July 26, 1911 to Clarence Grau at Sioux City. Her parents were the late Christian Voss and Sarah Meyer Voss.
Mrs. Grau was a member of St. John’s United Church Women’s Sr. Guild Eastern Star Past Matron’s Club of Eastern Star; White Shrine and she was financial secretary for 14 years of women’s Sr. guild. She was a lifelong member of the choir of St. John’s.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 at St. John’s United Church with Rev. M. L. Straube officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars city cemetery under direction of Mauer funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence of Le Mars; sisters, Mrs. Flora Phelan of Le Mars and Mrs. Emma Neisius of Le Mars. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Arthur C. Voss.
