Clarence Grau was Longtime Auto Dealer

Clarence Grau, 87, Le Mars, died Wednesday (Nov. 1, 1972) at Floyd Valley hospital after a 5-year illness.

He had been hospitalized five years and four months.

Mr. Grau was born Oct. 11, 1885, in Tama county, the son of the late Leonard and Lucy (Winders) Grau. He went to Sioux county as a child and moved to Le Mars in 1909 and had resided here since that time.

A longtime auto and implement dealer in Le Mars, he retired in 1949. Mr. Grau and Mathilda Voss were married July 26, 1911, at Sioux City. Mrs. Grau died in Jan. 11, 1961.

He was a member of Giblem Masonic lodge 322, Eastern Star and the Elks lodge.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mauer funeral chapel with Rev. Ralph Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Le Mars cemetery.

Survivors are a brother, C. Vernon Grau of Le Mars; a sister, Mrs. Herman (Lillian) Harms of Brunsville and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Grau was preceded in death by his wife and a brother Earl.
