Clifford Bray Life Resident Taken By Death Was Well Known Lumberman Here Many Years

Clifford Bray, 56, a lifelong resident of Plymouth County, died Monday, July 28, at his home, 134 Second Avenue SW, after an illness of two years. Mr. Bray became afflicted with diabetes two years ago and his condition became gradually worse and in the latter period of the disease, he became almost totally blind.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Bray of this city and was born in Le Mars July 25, 1885. His father, T. A. Bray, was an early settler in Le Mars and operated grocery stores in Le Mars in the eighties and nineties and later was connected with the Le Mars Water and Light company for many years. Mrs. T. A. Bray, who died six years ago, was prominent in church work and in social circles.

Clifford Bray received his education at Le Mars and on attaining manhood was engaged in the lumber business and conducted lumber yards at Seney and Struble for the Moore Lumber company of this city. He was a competent businessman and popular with customers. For a few years, he farmed near Seney and made a success of his operations.

Mr. Bray was married twice. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Clifford Bray, of this city, his children, Clifford, Lawrence, Lois, Eleanor, and Marjorie, of Minneapolis and his stepchildren, Lura, of Sloan, John, of Kingsley, Wayne, and Ella, at home. He also leaves his father, T. A. Bray, of this city, two brothers, Oliver Bray of Sioux Falls, S. D., Bennett Bray of Le Mars, two sisters, Mrs. Robert Wick of Le Mars and Mrs. Lyle Cushing of Stevensville, Mich. Mr. Bray was a member of the Methodist church and a member of the. Masonic fraternity.

The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in the First Methodist church. Rev. W. M. Hubbard officiating and interment made in the city cemetery.
