Dow Dambrink
Dow Dambrink, 77, lifelong Le Mars resident, died unexpectedly at his home in Le Mars Tuesday. He was a former Le Mars fire chief and tinsmith and plumber.
Mr. Dambrink, known to his friends as Butch, was born Dec. 28, 1891, in Le Mars. He was the son of Herman and Josie VanderBerg Dambrink. His first wife, Rika Behrens Dambrink, died in 1937. The couple was married May 15, 1912, in Le Mars. On Oct. 4, 1938, Pauline Hauser and Mr. Dambrink were married in Le Mars.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Luken-Johnson funeral home with Rev. Arnold Imbrock officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery, Le Mars, under the direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home.
Mr. Dambrink joined the Le Mars fire department in 1913 and was fire chief for 12 years. He retired in 1957.
Survivors are his wife, Pauline; two sons, William H. and Richard, both of Le Mars; two daughters, Mrs. Bert (Doris) Van Essen, Huron, S.D., and Mrs. David (Marian) Cornellissee, Grand Rapids, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Jenny) Trafford, Le Mars; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and step-daughter, Mrs. Delia Whitmer, Mars. He was preceded in death by parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
