August 20, 1961 - February 10, 2017

Steve Westhoff, 55, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa. Reverend Lil Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Craig. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, with a Prayer Service and time of Memory Sharing at 7:00 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel-Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

The family prefers memorials to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and/or to the Le Mars Little League.

Steven Gerald Westhoff was born August 20, 1961 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Gerald and Delores (Rozell) Westhoff. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1979.

Following high school, Steve work for Brangwin Construction in Le Mars. He also farmed part time with his family. Later, he worked for Paul Meyer Construction in Ireton. After working there, he went to work for Koopman Construction in Ireton until he started farming full time. He also raised sheep and had pork production facilities with Wakefield Pork, Inc.

He married Lori Groseinheider on March 19, 1988. To this union, they had three children, Kylie, Hope, and Grace. They later divorced.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had served on church council and volunteered with many church activities. While in high school, he was active in F.F.A. He was a volunteer coach for his girls in Little League and soccer. Through the years, Steve enjoyed playing softball. In his younger years, Steve played on the Craig Cubs Fast-pitch softball team. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and attending the rally in Sturgis. He also enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He loved family holidays and get togethers. But his greatest joy was spending time with his daughters.

Survivors include his daughters: Kylie Westhoff, Hope Westhoff, and Grace Westhoff, all at home; his parents: Gerald and Delores Westhoff of Le Mars; his sister: Cindy Klemme (Jerry Petersen) of Akron, IA; his brother: Rick (Kris) Westhoff of Le Mars; nieces and nephews: his God child, Jessica (Clint) Hughes and their family, Makenzie and Brooklyn; Cassandra (Joel) Iseminger and their family, Cooper and Judd; Chance Klemme; Zachary (Jill) Westhoff and their family, Jarret, Ty, and baby due in July; his God child, John (Kristina) Westhoff and their son, Rory; Lee (Michelle) Westhoff and their family, Kent, Ella, and Max; and Erica Westhoff; special friends: Chris (Dalana) Groseinheider and their family, Luke, Toria, and Chase; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: John and Dora Westhoff; his maternal grandparents: Art and Louise Rozell; his brother in law: Jeff Klemme; and his uncles: Arlan Oltmanns, Richard “Dick” Hartman, and LaRue Hansen.
