Florence Eckhoff, 83, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with Reverend Tim Geitz officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John''s Lutheran Cemetery in Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Thursday evening at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be directed to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran L.W.M.L.

Florence Louisa Stender was born August 1, 1930 in Ute, Iowa to Henry and Erna (Moltmann) Stender. She received her education at Charter Oak, Iowa. Florence was united in marriage to Edward Eckhoff on October 4, 1947 at St. Luke''s Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Ed''s career with Iowa Public Service (Mid America Energy) brought the family to several communities in Western Iowa before settling in Le Mars in 1961. Florence worked as a secretary her whole career, retiring as the Le Mars Middle School secretary in 1992. Florence was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and Grace L.W.M.L. She enjoyed cooking, tending to her flowers and bowling in league. Florence and Ed enjoyed spending summers at the cabin near Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Ed of Le Mars; three children: Neil Eckhoff and his wife Mary of Arvada, Colorado and their children Jon (Leslie), Sarah (Steen) Jergensen, and Joshua (Carrie), Nancy Petterson and her husband Jeff of Jasper, Minnesota and their children Rachel and Allyssa, and Perry Eckhoff and his wife Joann of Tea, South Dakota and their children Marques (Krista) and Megan (Clayton) Wulf; 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Letty Stender of Westside, Iowa and Stella Stender of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Erna (Moltmann) Stender, and three brothers and a sister.
