KINGSLEY, Iowa -- John Fred Porsch, 92, of Kingsley died Friday, May 18, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, Iowa, with Pastor Michael Kroona officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Hinton, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

The son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Gruenberg) Porsch, John was born Sept. 22, 1914. He was born and raised on the family farm and had resided there until 2005, when he moved to Char-Mac in Lawton, Iowa. He was a life-long farmer and had received the Century Farm award.

He was of the Lutheran faith. John's hobbies included playing the guitar, violin and harmonica. He also liked activities that involved family gatherings.

Survivors include a sister, Selma Muecke of Hinton; a sister-in-law, Loretta Porsch of Sioux City; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bertha Zellmer; three brothers, Theodore Porsch, Albert Porsch and Harry Porsch; and three nephews.
