John McCarthy

HAWARDEN, Iowa - John "Jack" McCarthy, 60, of Waterloo, Wis., formerly of Hawarden and Clear Lake, Iowa, died of cancer Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at his residence.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Pederson Funeral Home in Waterloo, Wis. The body was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Akron Cemetery, Akron, Iowa.

Mr. McCarthy was born March 16, 1937, in Hawarden, the son of Milton and Gertrude (Talsma) McCarthy. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Trek-USA-Waterloo for over four years. He enjoyed football.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick and his wife Roni of Watertown, Wis. and John of Mount Shasta, Calif.; three brothers, Don and his wife Eddie of Burlington, Iowa, Thomas and his wife Nancy of Orlando, Fla., and Mark of Clear Lake; two sisters and their husbands, Janet and Stan Anderson of Akron, Iowa and Mary and Russell Pals of Clear Lake; and his fiancee, Sue Faes of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Hode Haven Development Center in Burlinton, Iowa.
