Deloris Milbrodt, 88, of Akron, Iowa passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Pastor Susan Juilfs will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, with the family present after 5:00 p.m., and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Deloris Henrietta Oltmanns was born October 18, 1926 on a farm west of Struble, Iowa, the daughter of Otto H. and Reaka (Osterbuhr) Oltmanns. She was baptized at her parents’ home and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa.

She attended country school at Grant No. 1 and No. 8 and Struble, Iowa. She attended high school in Le Mars and graduated from Central High School in 1944. Following high school, she attended Western Union College in Le Mars. Early on, Deloris taught country school for 3 years.

She was united in marriage to Glen Milbrodt on July 27, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Craig. After raising her two sons, Ken and Arlin, she worked at the Akron Creamery, Johnny’s Market, K&K Store, and GW Market. She was also a bus driver for the Akron School for 15 years.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Craig prior to her marriage. After moving to Akron, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron where she was active in W.E.L.C.A., church circle, and Bible study for many years. She served on Church Council and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 Auxiliary for over 69 years, having served as Chaplain for many years. She served as a trustee for the Akron Hospital and later the Akron Care Center. Through the years, she enjoyed ceramics, reading, crocheting, playing cards, and bowling. She also enjoyed her morning and afternoon coffee with friends and family. But most of all, she loved the times spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include a son: Kenneth (Lynette) Milbrodt of Rogers, Arkansas and their children: Matthew (Kelly) Milbrodt of Harrogate, England and their children: Marissa and Jacob; and Mark (Abby) Milbrodt of Rogers, Arkansas and their children: Ava and Landon; a son: Arlin (Arlene) Milbrodt of Dakota Dunes, SD and their son, Michael Dickey of West Des Moines, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins..

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Glen on April 29, 2000.

Memorials can be made in Deloris’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Akron Care Center.
