William Hisel
William Lawrence Conley Hisel died December 27, 2003, from pneumonia.
Funeral services were held Dcember 30 at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, NE with the Rev. Bill Knieval officiating
Pallbearers were Claude Livingston, Craig Livingston, Martin Hisel, Craig Winquist, Clint Livingston, Jerry Stevens, Curt Winquist and Casey Winquist.
Mr. Conley was born August 26, 1920, in Lewellen, NE to Woodie L. and Agnes (Carey) Hisel. He was raised on a ranch south of Ashby, NE. He graduated from Garden County High School in Oshkosh, NE in 1939. In September 1942 he joined the service.
Mr. Conley married Ruth Elaine Hansen of Akron at Yuma, AZ on September 2, 1945. He was discharged as a Corporal in February 1946. The couple then took up residency in Akron where he worked with his brother-in-law, Ford Hansen, as a plumber. In 1971, the couple purchased and moved to a ranch north of Stuart, NE. In 2002, the couple moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Bloomfield, NE.
He was a Legion member. He enjoyed playing the guitar and violin. Conley always had to wear a good quality cowboy hat. It was part of his identify and a family tradition to own a good western hat.
Survivors include two sisters; brother-in-laws; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Barbara;; and two brothers.
