LE MARS, Iowa - Martha Amundson, 97, of Le Mars died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service 7:30 p.m., at the church. Moeller Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Amundson was born Oct. 18, 1900, in Meadow Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Else (Froendt) Sanny. She attended in Meadow Township Center School.

She married Ted Amundson on July 30, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minn. The couple farmed near Ruthton, Minn. They moved near Remsen, where they farmed for 29 years. They retired and moved into Le Mars in 1957. He died Sept. 28, 1972.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards and gardening.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Ardith and Bill Whittle of Omaha, Neb.; a son and his wife, Ronald and Yvonne of Remsen; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, LaDona Fleming; a son-in-law, Bob Fleming; three brothers, John, Henry and Albert Sanny; three sisters, Clara Bjork, Dora Engelbrecht and Wanda Petersen.
