Marjorie "Marg" Wych, 87, of Akron, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. Reverend Tanya Sherrill will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, with the family present after 5:00 p.m., and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Marjorie Arlene Daniel was born August 20, 1924 on the family farm in Elkhorn Township near Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Gladys (Porsch) Daniel. She attended country school near Kingsley and later high school in Kingsley where she graduated from Kingsley High School. Marg attended college at Western Union in Le Mars and attained her teaching certificate. She began teaching at a country school near Kingsley. Later, she taught for 3 years at Grand Meadow Consolidated School near Washta, Iowa before returning to Kingsley to teach there. It was during this time that Marg met her future husband.

Marg was united in marriage to Joseph Wych on June 10, 1947 at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Marg and Joe moved to a farm near Cherokee, Iowa for a short time before moving to their current homestead south of Akron, Iowa in January of 1949. Marg was a homemaker for her family and helped Joe on the farm. In 1957, she returned to teaching for 1 semester in Westfield. Through the years, Marg raised laying hens and would deliver eggs twice a week. She would also help with the planting and harvesting of the crops each year.

Marg was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron for many years. Marg was active in many school organizations and she and Joe enjoyed attending many of the school events through the years. Marg enjoyed bowling and served as secretary of the women's league for many years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Marge and Joe enjoyed traveling throughout the states and abroad. She loved to work crossword puzzles. But most of all, she loved the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of over 64 years, Joe of Akron; her 3 sons: Bob Wych (Debbie) of Sedona, AZ, Jerry Wych of Fullerton, CA, and Ron Wych (Sandy) of Akron, IA; 6 grandchildren: Heidi Wych, Aaron Wych, Charity Leekley, Tori Dye, Joe Wych, and Jake Wych; a great granddaughter: Hope; 2 sisters in law: Kay Daniel of New Jersey and Shyrl Daniel of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 brothers: John, Jr. in infancy, Don Daniel, and Russ Daniel.

Memorials can be made in Marg's name to the Akron Care Center Building Fund in c/o the Akron Care Center, 121 South Street, Akron, Iowa 51001.
