Walter S. Kaeberle

Walter Sherman Kaeberle, 86, Akron, died Tuesday (Nov. 17, 1987) at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Sioux City, after a long illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kenneth Richards and vocalists were Shirley Timmins and Dean Rowe, who sang, “Just A Closer Walk” and “Amazing Grace”, “Beautiful Savior” was song by the congregation.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. Pallbearers were Geoffrey Kaeberle, Lance Kaeberle, Jason Westphal, Reid Philips, Paul Philips, and Marion Kryger.

Mr. Kaeberle was born July 20, 1901, to Louis F. and Antonette (Peterson) Kaeberle in Meckling S.D. He was baptized into the Christian faith at Meckling Lutheran Church, Sept. 22, 1901, and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church, June 12, 1921.

He married Margaret Hansen, March 10, 1925, at Vermillion. The couple farmed near Vermillion for 40 years before moving to Akron in 1965. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Akron; one son, Dr. Merlin Kaeberle of Ames; two daughters, Mrs. Jason (Arley) Philips of Akron, and Mrs. Dale (Donna) Westphal of Augusta, Mich.; a brother, Alfred of Meckling; nine grandchildren, Reid Philips, Paul Philips, Paige Philips Cook, Geoffrey Kaekerle, Lance Kaeberle, Carla Kaeerle, Jennifer Westphal, Allison Westphal, and Jason Westphal; one great-granddaughter, Taryn Philips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Melanie, and one sister, Myrtle Burton.
