April 07, 1975 - July 21, 2017

Gregory “Greg” Ford, 42, of Akron, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 21, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City from injuries sustained in an accident at his workplace.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Pastor Susan Juilfs will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel-Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for his children’s college education fund in c/o Telco Triad Community Credit Union, 1420 Tri View Avenue, Sioux City, Iowa 51103.

Gregory Alan Ford was born April 7, 1975 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Sheila (Lussier) Ford. His family made their home in Sioux City until moving to Washington state. When he was in the 5th grade, he and his family moved to Akron. He attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron-Westfield High School in 1994. He attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City and graduated in 1996 with his welding degree. While in college, he started working for Tri-View Steel in Sioux City as a welder. He was currently serving as a working foreman for the company.

He was united in marriage to Julie Koerner on August 15, 1998 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Greg loved working on cars, whether it was tinkering with the engine or repairing the body. He also enjoyed woodworking, collecting coins, and camping. But most of all, he loved the time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Julie of Akron; 3 sons: Michael, Justin, and Tyler, all at home; his mother: Sheila Ford of Akron; 2 brothers: Frank Ford of Dubuque, IA, and his children: Ashley, Andrew, and Alex; and Adam (Sunday) Ford of Hawarden, IA, and their children: Brooke, Colton, and Shelby; his sister: Christine Ford of Le Mars, Iowa; and his father in law: Milo Koerner of Akron, IA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Ford; his mother in law: Janice Koerner; and two uncles: Cliff Baumgardner and Bill (JoAnn) Lussier.
