Florence “Trudy” Blankenship

Florence “Trudy” Blankenship, 72, of Le Mars, formerly of Omaha, Neb., died Friday June 29, 2001, at her home in Le Mars, following a lengthy illness.

The former Florence G. Mix was born July 21, 1928, in Shelbyville, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Eliza (Simpson) Mix. She was raised and educated in Shelbyville and later attended business school in Omaha. Florence married Keith W. Blankenship July 24, 1952. They made their home in Omaha, where she was a longtime supervisor for Northwestern Bell. The last few years, she had lived in Le Mars so that she could be closer to her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter Lin Duncan and her husband, Tom, of Le Mars; two granddaughters; Emily Marie Duncan of Lake Worth, Fla., and Lisa Ann Duncan of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a foster sister Claudette Harper of Quincy, Ill.

Her parents; a sister Zelda Loomer; and a brother, Earl Mix, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Richard Ries officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation was after 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation continued from 8 a.m. until service time Monday.
