LE MARS, Iowa | Margaret L. Day, 94, of Le Mars passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at The Abbey of Le Mars.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mauer–Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The Rev. Jon Meredith of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Margaret Lucille Day was born on Feb. 10, 1921, in Blencoe, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Alta (McGee) Kaiser. She graduated salutatorian from high school in Blencoe and continued at cosmetology school in Sioux City. This is where she met Lowell R. Day.

Margaret and Lowell were united in marriage on March 30, 1941, in Sioux City. While Lowell served the nation during World War II, Margaret lived in California and worked as a beautician. Following the war, they made their home in Le Mars. Margaret stayed at home to care for their two boys while Lowell operated Day's Barber Shop in downtown Le Mars. Lowell passed away on July 18, 1992. Margaret remained in her home until she moved to The Abbey of Le Mars on Dec. 27, 2006.

While living at home, Margaret was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed flower gardening.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Lynn Day and his wife, Carol of Arlington, Texas, and Randy Day and his wife, Diane of Kingsley, Iowa; six grandchildren, Angela (Walter) Willingham, Daniel (Kimberly) Day, Jeremy (Sara) Day, Andrew (Ann) Day, Stephanie (Jason) Hersom and Brandon (Reina) Day; and 14 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ethan, Emily, Logan, Evan, Oscar, Finnegan, Dominic, Jessica, Nathan, Rachel, Andrew, Jordan and Beckham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; and an infant brother.

Pallbearers will be Margaret's grandchildren.
