SENEY, Iowa - Lois A. Borchers, 73, of Seney died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at her residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Le Mars, Iowa, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Borchers was born June 26, 1924, near Peterson, Iowa, the daughter of John and Freida (Johannson) Stabelfeld. She graduated from Brook Consolidated School in rural Buena Vista County, in 1942. She then attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City.

She married August Borchers on Sept. 23, 1947, in Sioux City. The couple moved to a farm near Le Mars in 1948 and later moved to Seney in 1978. She was employed as a income tax preparer for several years. He died May 1, 1992. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and baking.

Survivors include two sons, Gary of Le Mars and Randal and his wife Jo Ann of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Denny Hargens of Le Mars; 11 grandchildren, Justin, Jason, James, John and B.J. Borchers, Jason, Kristina, Mike and Shari Hargens, Nathan and Breanna Weise; a sister, Virginia Wells of Porterville, Calif.; two brothers and their wives, Elvin and Donna Stabelfeld of Storm Lake, Iowa and Glen and Jo Stabelfeld of Hughson, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be James, John, B.J., and Justin Borchers, Jason and Mike Hargens.
