Obituary for Betty Bunt

Le Mars, Iowa – Betty J. Bunt, 86, of Palestine, Texas, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at her home in Palestine, Texas.

Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Rev. Jan Christensen of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ will officiate. Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars.

Betty Jane Bunt was born on March 29, 1923 in Winterset South Dakota, the daughter of Donald Vern and Lillian Mae (Tooker) Gee. Betty was a long time resident of Le Mars who was best known as the baker and cook at Truck Haven Cafe for many of years. She retired in the mid1980's and remained in Le Mars until early 2000's. Since that time to present, she had moved to Omaha, Nebraska with her daughter Donna for a few years. They then moved to Palestine, Texas to be closer to Thomas and family where she entered into rest very peacefully at home on Feb. 24th 2010.

Betty will be lovingly remembered by her son Thomas A. Bunt and his wife Carmen, and daughter Donna M. Sanders and husband Mike all of Palestine, Texas; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie T. Bunt, son Leslie W. Bunt, grandson Robert Allen Conner; parents Donald Vern and Lillian Mae (Tooker) Gee; a sister Mary Beth Huseby; and a brother Robert Gee.
