Obituary for Anita Bergquist

Merrill, Iowa - Anita Mae (Sorgdrager) Bergquist, 40, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Merrill, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011 at her father's home in Merrill, Iowa.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Greg Gabriel will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Anita Mae Sorgdrager was born on February 5, 1971 in Le Mars, Iowa, one of five children born to Earl Jr. and Tonja (McKnight) Sorgdrager. She graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1989. She married Curt Bergquist on August 11, 1989 at Foster Park in Le Mars. Anita was employed as a waitress at Hungry's in Merrill and sewed at Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars. Most recently she worked at IBP in Dakota City, Nebraska. Anita enjoyed crafts and scrapbooking, swimming, baking, cook-outs with friends and family, camping and motorcycle riding. Most of all she loved shopping for her children and spending time with them.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Austin of Waterloo, Iowa and Jordan, Carly and Megan of Merrill, Iowa; her father, Earl Sorgdrager Jr. of Merrill, Iowa; her mother, Tonja Stoddard of Sioux City, Iowa; special friend Mark Varenhorst and his son Dominic of Merrill, Iowa; a sister, Barb Sorgdrager of Sioux City, Iowa, brother, Rob (Dawn) Sorgdrager of Le Mars, Iowa, a sister, Tina (Fiancé Howie Long and his son Jordan) Sorgdrager of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a brother, Anthony Sorgdrager of Cherokee, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
