Marlyn Crissey

Marlyn Crissey, 53, of Beresford died January 28, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of Beresford on January 27.

Services were held February 1 at the Wass Funeral Home in Beresford. The body was cremated and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, at a later date.

Honorary casket bearers were his nephews and friends.

Mr. Crissey was born August 1, 1949, in Storm Lake, to Cletus and Hannah (Soenksen) Crissey. He attended elementary school in Iowa and moved with his family to Beresford in 1960, where he attended Beresford High School. He entered the United States Army in 1968 and served until his honorable discharge in 1972. He was stationed for a time in Germany.

He attended vocational school in Sheldon for heavy equipment operation and then worked with his father for Christensen Brothers Construction and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Mr. Chrissey married Janet Larson in 1991.

He was associated with the Akron American Legion. Among his hobbies and interests were reading about history, visiting with his friends and family, camping, fishing and listening to music. Mr. Crissey was an accomplished mechanic. As a young boy he had made several go-carts and he had the ability to make about any vehicle run.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; his children, Miles Crissey, Sioux Falls; Preston and Paxton Crissey, Beresford; Thyra Crissey, Brookings; Myra Crissey, Sioux Falls; MaShell Donovan and fiancé John Stone, Ethan, SD; Sandy Crissey and Woody Crissey, both of Germany; five grandchildren; one brother, Harlan Crissey and his wife LaMay, Volin, SD; four sisters, LaVeda Deon Dose, Danbury; Patricia Prouty-Young and her husband Bill New Auburn, WI; Sandra Voss f Minnesota and Jacque Thormodsgaard and husband Lee, Alcester; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and special buddies, Mike and Harley Salberg.
