AKRON, Iowa - Arlene Laura Frerichs, 84, of rural Akron died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Rev. William Kallestad officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Frerichs was born March 21, 1915, in rural Akron, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Klemme) Jurgensen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She married Elmer Frerichs on Nov. 30, 1938, near Akron. The couple farmed in the Akron area. He died in 1963. She continued to live on the farm.

She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Women's Circle and Farm Bureau.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Akron; a sister, Ella Nannen of Le Mars, Iowa; two brothers and their wives, Elmer and Berniece Jurgensen and Vernon and Leanna Jurgensen, all of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Harry Nannen.

Pallbearers will be Larry, Bruce and Rodney Jurgensen, Arlen Nannen, Randy Johnson, Dave Appley, Larry Plueger and Blake Larson.
