Kenneth Brown, 90, of rural Le Mars, Iowa passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at St. Luke''s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Merrill, Iowa. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Merrill. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Kenneth Orville Brown was born October 26, 1921 on the family farm in Johnson Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Gertrude (Morehead) Brown. He attended rural school in Johnson Township and later high school in Le Mars. He graduated from Central High School in 1941. He attended college for one year at Western Union in Le Mars. He was united in marriage to Eva Gabel on June 24, 1944 at Adaville United Methodist Church. He and Eva farmed west of Le Mars; after 10 years they moved to the farm where Eva was born. He was an active member of Adaville United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday school for many years and served in various offices as well. He was a very active and faithful supporter of the United Methodist campgrounds at Lake Okoboji. He served on the Board of Directors of the camp for 10 years and spent many, many days throughout the years working on the campgrounds. He served on the Board of Directors for the First National Bank in Le Mars. Kenneth was a faithful, loving husband and father throughout his many years. He was a good neighbor and caring community citizen. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 68 years, Eva, of rural Le Mars; his three sons: Mark Brown (Diana) of rural Le Mars, Kent Brown (Jane) of rural Merrill, and Greg Brown (Lynette) of Helena, MT; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; his sister in law: Cleone Brown of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Merlin Brown.
