Note: His mother's maiden name is actually spelled Heeren and I think his first name is Marlys.

Marls B. Goodrich

Marls B. Goodrich, 92, of Merrill, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Springfield, Mo.

Marls B. Goodrich was born April 24, 1913, near Adaville, the son of Burto and Lila (Herren) Goodrich. He married Burnace M. Hamilton April 5, 1937, at Sioux City. He lived in the Adavile area until moving to Springfield, Mo., two years ago.

He owned and operated the Adaville Country Store. Marls purchased his farm near Adaville in 1950. He farmed and did custom work until he retired in 1976. His wife Burnace, died Nov. 9, 2000, in Springfield, Mo.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sioux City. Marls was an avid horseshoe pitcher ad was inducted into the Iowa Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame in 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Honderick and her husband, Dr. Richard Honderick of Sprinfield, Mo., and Katie Crum and her husband, the Rev. Lee Crum of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Christy Boller, Elizabeth Dobberstein, Brent Crum and Greg Crum; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Violet Bradstreet and Arlus Barnes of California and Lois Jeffries of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Gleva and a brother, Archie.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Assembly of God in Sioux City, with his son-in-law, the Rev. Lee Crum, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Adaville. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. A time of reflection and memories will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brent and Greg Crum, Matthew Bollier, Marc Dobberstein, Stee and Michael Hemmelman, Kevin Netley and Terry Foister.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chester Specht, Martin Simonsen, Dean Row, Russ Martin, Harry White, Art Netley and Gush Bohlmann.

Memorial made be made in his name to First Assembly of God Church in Sioux City.
