Note: It says he is buried in the Remsen Cemetery but it is more likely he is buried in Remsen St. Mary's Cemetery next to his wife.
Resident In County Fifty-six Years
Louis Singer Of Remsen Passes Away
Louis Singer, 76, retired business man of Remsen and resident of Plymouth county for over 50 years, succumbed to an extended sickness at his home in Remsen early Tuesday.
Mr. Singer served on the town council two years, was a volunteer fireman 10 years, and acted as head of the Consolidated Saloon Owners when he was in business.
Survivors include his wife and five children, Leo Singer of Remsen, Mrs. Walter Mancke of Chicago, Laura at home, Alphonse Singer or Watsonville, Calif., and Mrs. Frank Bowker of Chicago.
Mr. Singer was born in Bavaria, Germany, in 1864, and came to America with his parents at the age of 8, settling on a farm in Illinois. In 1884 he began farming near Hinton, later buying a farm near Remsen in 1890. He returned to Illinois in 1891 to marry Annie Stephens. In 1900 Mr. Singer purchased a saloon and continued in that business for 34 years. He retired in 1936.
The funeral was held at Remsen Thursday morning with services in St. Mary's church and interment made in the Remsen cemetery.

Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Those living are Nicholas Singer of Merrill and Mrs. Barbara Kemp, now making her home with her son John N. at Mapleton, Iowa.
