Note: According to local town news his funeral was in Remsen so he is probably buried there.

J. P. Barthole, a well known resident of this vicinity, died at his home Wednesday. Mr. Barthole was taken ill about nine years ago with a disease of the spine which paralyzed both his legs and ever since that time he was an invalid and unable to take an active part in the work about his farm.

John Peter Barthole was born in Bissen, Grand Duchy of Luxemburg on May 1874, and remained at home with his parents until he reached the age of 20 years, when he came to this country. On his arrival he came directly to Remsen, this having at the time been the home of two uncles, Charles and John Barthole.

For several years he engaged in farm work in this vicinity, and for two years followed the carpenter trade. On April 8, 1902, Mr. Barthole was united in marriage to Miss Marianna Kirsch, who is also a native Bissen, Luxemburg.

Those to mourn the early death of Mr. Barthole, besides his wife, are the following children: Charles, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Margaret, Raymond, Marie, and John, all living at home. One brother, John Barthole, lives in California, and another brother and five sisters are living in Luxemburg.
