INJURY BY AUTO FATAL TO GIRL

At about 8:30 o'clock Wednesday morning Wilma, 6 1/2-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Andresen, who live on the W. B. Ross farm, north of town was struck by an auto while on her way to school in Akron and died of her injuries at about 1 p.m. the same day.

The fatal accident brought grief most poignant into two homes and sorrow to the entire community.

It had been customary for Wilma to wait in front of her home each school day morning and get an auto ride to town with Mr. or Mrs. L. D. Ross, who also bring their own little girl and some of their neighbors children. Yesterday morning Wilma had walked on ahead. Mrs. Ross was driving the car and overtook her near the Gleason place north of Riverside cemetery. As the car approached, the little Strobehn boy called out to Wilma, not to cross in front of the car, but she evidently did not hear or understand and ran in front of the car, was struck by one wheel and knocked down before Mrs. Ross could possibly bring it to a stop.

Mrs. Ross picked up the stricken child and a passing motorist drove her car to the Akron Hospital; where medical attention was at once given and everything possible done, but without avail, and she passed away about four and a half hours later. It is possible the car wheels may have passed over the child's body, as death resulted from internal injuries.

The sad accident appears to have been entirely unavoidable, yet this does not lessen the shock and sorrow that comes to living ones. While no blame is attached to Mrs. Ross for her unwitting part in the tragedy, she was prostrated with grief over its outcome and is entitled to a share of the sympathy the community so sincerely extends.

The death of this little girl comes as an added grief to the Andersen's father, Henry G. Andresen, died from the effects of an auto accident only about six weeks ago.

Wilma Andersen was a bright and winsome little girl. She had been attending the kindergarten department of the Akron public schools and her teacher and little classmates are deeply grieved at her sad taking away.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. F. A. Meske in Trinity Lutheran church in this city tomorrow (Friday) at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
