PIONEER AKRON RESIDENT DIES LAST SATURDAY
Last Rites Are Held Monday Afternoon For Lottie Baker
Mrs. Alanson Baker, 79, died Saturday morning in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
The former Lottie Waterbury was born July 17, 1888, in Union County, S. D., near Akron, and she was married here Sept. 15, 1915. Mr. Baker died Dec. 18, 1963. She was a charter member of the Rural Home Culture Club, had been active in Farm Bureau work, and taught Sunday School for several years.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Hunt, of Akron, and Charlotte Hardy, of Columbus, Neb.; three grandchildren, Erline Huls, of Sioux City, Sharolyn and Paul Hardy, of Columbus, Danny and Lori Ann Huls, of Sioux City; and one nephew, John Waterbury, of El Paso, Texas.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Frank Waterbury.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Baptist Church. The Rev. Richard Milne, of Le Mars and Akron, officiated. Vocal solos, "How Great Thou Art" and "Under His Wing," were sung by Virginia Swift, accompanied by Mrs. H. Shoulberg. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. Casket Bearers were: Hugh Swift, John Bliss, Elmo Fletcher, Lo Vay Lamoureaux, Ford Hansen, and George Claassen.
